14th Annual New York City Dyke March: evening of Saturday June 24, 2006
The 14th Annual NYC Dyke March steps off at 5 pm sharp on the evening of Saturday June 24th 2006
Everyone should assemble at Bryant Park, located at 42nd Street and 6th Avenue.
The march goes down 5th Avenue to Washington Square Park.
It's time to hit the streets! Make some noise.
Be visible. Be heard. Demonstrate, agitate, liberate at the New York City Dyke March.
Bring signs, banners, drums, giant puppets, flags, hula hoops or just be there!
The New York City Dyke March is a protest march, not a parade -- we don't ask for a permit, because we have the right to protest.
As queer women, we recognize that we must organize amongst ourselves to fight for our rights, our safety, and for visibility.
Thousands of dykes take over the streets every year in celebration of queer women everywhere and to protest against ongoing discrimination, harassment and anti-women violence in schools, on the job, in our families and on the streets.
As always, the Dyke March is open to all women, biological or otherwise - no sign-up or registration required.
Just come out with your banners, signs, noisemakers, and beautiful dyke selves, and join in the march!

Comments on the Pride March (posted Sun Jun 4, 2006 10:28 pm)
Dear Friends,
Once again BiRequest will be leading the bi contingent at the annual Heritage of Pride Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, and Transgendered march.
The theme this year is "The Fight For Love and Life."
As always the march is on the last Sunday in June.
This year that will be on the 25th.
We do not yet have the order of march.
But we will likely gather at noon near Fifth Avenue in the fifties.
We'll keep you posted on plans.
Many of us had a great deal of fun last year, (Check out this picture taken from our Yahoo Group welcome page!)

|
This year we are planning to have an even better celebration.
We'll have to see if we can get that float filled with buff beauties from HX gyrating to hot music near us again.
If not, we may have to strip down and provide our own entertainment.
But for all the fun, the Pride March is a most important event for us.
It is essential that the world--and particularly the queer community--see a significant bi presence on that day.
It makes a powerful statement, one that can literally change people's lives.
So be there for fun.
Be there to make a statement.
But if at all possible, be there!
